Dr. Luis A. Rodríguez Anaya received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University in 2011. He completed his residency at Mercy Hospital in Miami, FL and, in 2014, completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine through both Mercy Hospital and Barry University. He has worked at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in many roles, including as Interim Clinical Education Director, Adjunct Professor, and as a Guest Lecturer in lower extremity anatomy and clinical podiatric knowledge. In 2015, he became an Assistant Professor at Barry with a focus on surgical principles, operating room protocol and biomechanics. Dr. Rodríguez Anaya is the podiatrist for Barry University’s athletic teams, NCAA Division II Sports.

Dr. Rodriguez Anaya is currently a diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and is a member of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Florida Podiatric Medical Association, and the Dade County Podiatric Medical Association.

Dr. Rodríguez Anaya’s interests include trauma surgery, sports medicine, podopediatrics, wound care and research. He is an expert in trauma surgery, especially foot and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, ankle fractures, diabetic Charcot reconstruction, and limb salvage with external and internal fixation.

He has performed and published extensive research, acted as the editor of the Clinics in Surgery journal, lectured at conferences with the Florida Podiatric Medical Association, and has served on committees such as Barry’s podiatric Dean Search Committee and the Barry University Graduate Council. Dr. Rodriguez Anaya’s volunteer service includes twice a year mission trips to Mexico with the Yucatan Crippled Children’s Project, which he has been doing since 2011. He also co-coordinates and participates in local foot-washing events for those in need in the community. He is the recipient of many awards and scholarships, including the Clinical Faculty Award for the Class of 2018 and a 2017 Distinguished Clinical Award. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
